Travels with Darley

Tell Us About the Travels with Darley 1oth Season

This 10th season milestone of Travels with Darley kicks off on PBS stations starting January 2023. We have eight new episodes bringing the series to a total of 59 half hours. I can’t believe it! I can’t believe all the places that I’ve been to. I was looking the other day at the list, and I thought, wow. And people will say, oh, what’s your favorite place? So many at this point.

This season is great because it’s all these wonderful, undiscovered locations. We filmed in international and U.S. locations, including Istanbul and throughout Türkiye, Quebec, Santa Fe, Bordeaux, and Wilmington, Delaware. And the people were amazing that I got to go out with in the different locations.

I find that when I’m out with people, they open up and share life lessons. So, it’s not just traveling; it’s learning about how to make the world a better place and how to make your life happier through travel.

By traveling the world and getting to know new people and places, we can become better global citizens and more inspired people.

Travels with Darley Season 10

Kitfox Santa Fe

“Santa Fe Railroads & Glamping” & “Santa Fe Art & History”

In Santa Fe, New Mexico, I went up to Ghost Ranch. I went out with David Manzanares. He’s a cowboy who grew up with Georgia O’Keefe at the ranch. It’s an iconic location, and incredible to see the real-life landscapes that inspired her painting.

I stayed at Kitfox, a women-owned sustainable glamping business. Jennifer Kolker, who runs it, was born and raised in New Mexico, and she wanted to return and start a business in her home state. And this place is really neat. It has a Tulum-Esque vibe with beautiful white tents; you just come with your backpack for incredible food and scenery.

Travels with Darley Istanbul

Travels with Darley Turkey

“Istanbul, Antalya & the Aegean Coast in Türkiye”

In Türkye, we visited the world’s largest olive oil factory and museum. There are 14,000 olive oil trees on the property, and you learn all about the health benefits of olive oil and its history and do tastings.

In Cappadocia, we go up on a hot air balloon and then go to one of the fascinating underground cities. In Avenos, we met the Einstein of Pottery and did a lesson with him.

And in Southeastern Türkiye, we visit Göbekli Tepe, a newly uncovered archaeological site and addition to UNESCO’s World Heritage List that pre-dates Stonehenge by 6,000 years and is full of amazing history.

Travels with Darley

“Bordeaux, France Part Wine & History” & “Bordeaux, France Markets & Villages”

We have two episodes in Bordeaux. I did a river cruise adventure through the region. We visit La Cité du Vin, a museum devoted to wine and its history. And I did a retro sidecar tour in the city, which was really fun.

Travels with Darley Quebec

Travels with Darley Quebec

“Quebec”

In Quebec, which is super accessible here in North America, I went to Quebec City, the Eastern Townships, and Montreal. I checked out the John Lennon and Yoko Ono Suite in Montreal at the Fairmont, and the Queen Elizabeth Hotel, which is funky and fun.

I got all dressed up in Quebec City for the New France Festival and did a fun tour with Cicérone. And went on the zipline coaster in Mont Sutton in the Eastern Township. I’ve never experienced anything quite like it. Super adventurous. I definitely recommend it.

Travels with Darley Wilmington

“Wilmington, Delware”

Wilmington is a place many people wouldn’t think about exploring. It’s not far from New York and DC, and we found a lot of hidden gems. It’s home to the DuPont Estates. And you learn a lot about American history when you visit Wilmington.

The food was great. On Market Street, there’s a restaurant called bardea. Co-owner, Scott Stein, sat down with me and explained Italian with a twist. I tried the Burrata Pop Tart. I was very impressed.

I also went to New Castle, which has beautiful historic homes. It reminded me of Colonial Williamsburg. A neat tavern has this ridiculous shepherd’s pie the size of your head and over 200 Belgian beers.
