How did you get started?
I love to travel. My first trip to Europe was a Mediterranean cruise with my friend’s family. I still have my diary from the adventure, which was in 9th grade of high school, and it opened my eyes to the wonders of Europe and travel and forever changed the course of my life.
It all started with the idea for a show about horseback riding around the world, Equitrekking, all about equestrian travel.
Then out of that came Travels with Darley, which now has 45 episodes.
There are 8 Seasons of Travels with Darley…Tell us more!
This show is for people who enjoy travel and want to learn about new places. The best way to travel is to have a local show you around. That’s where you get the most authentic experiences.
From Food Tours in Dubai and Tokyo to Island Hopping around Hong Kong’s 260 islands, we work with small businesses in each location to get an insider’s view. And you can recreate the same experiences when you visit these places.
We want to inspire you to see the world in a whole new way, through the locals’ eyes, like in the Dubai Desert Safari experience and the Qatar Falconry Auction.
Darley’s shows are on PBS, Amazon Prime, Ovation T.V.’s Journey, Verizon Digital, and international networks in over 85 nations.
There’s everything from the U.S. to International Destinations…. Road Trips in Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, West Virginia, Route 66, and more; Visiting Wales’ Harry Potter film sites and the real-life Calendar Girls; The French Riviera Cote d’Azur and France’s Champagne Houses; Guadeloupe Islands in the Caribbean; and so much more!
We’re all dreaming of that next vacation. What are some U.S. adventures you would recommend?
I’d suggest checking out some places you might not usually think of, and that won’t be as crowded.
In North Dakota, Theodore Roosevelt National Park is a great park and not a location many think of.
California’s Central Coast is a great road trip traveling Highway 1, Los Padres National Park, and Solvang, where you’ll feel like you’ve traveled to Denmark.
New Mexico has Santa Fe and the lesser-known Continental Divide Trail, Cosmic Campground, Gila National Forest, and Santa Fe National Forest.
Don’t forget about the great National Forests across the U.S., often located near National Parks and less crowded.
And now you’re bringing it to life in Darley Vacations.
Yes! I’ve had the most amazing adventures traveling and filming for over a decade. Now we’re making it even easier for travelers to journey in my footsteps to these special places with the local experiences and guides I’ve loved.
I’ve partnered with Cathy Moha and Gourmet Voyages, a female-owned Virtuoso agency, to create each Darley Vacations itinerary.
These fully guided vacations can be enjoyed as a family, couple, or group. Itineraries include diverse locations across the U.S. as well as international offerings. You can go as they are or customize them to fit your needs.
Choose from a family-friendly road trip along California’s Central Coast; national park and forest adventures in New Mexico, New York, and California; Creole cooking classes in Martinique; ski lessons with an Olympian in New York’s Adirondacks; a Rhine River cruise in Europe with lots of insider experiences; an adventure package with horseback riding in Iceland; or a visit to the “Hawaii of Asia” in South Korea — and more.
Next trip your planning or dreaming about?
I’m planning an upcoming shoot in Colorado this summer.
And in November of 2022, you can join me on a Mediterranean Cruise! I’ll be setting sail with guests and Regent Seven Seas Cruises on a Venice to Rome luxury cruise.
Where can Listeners find out more?
I’m also doing Facebook Live events to bring you on virtual adventures in places like Iceland, France, and the Mediterranean.
