Tuileries Garden
Pronounced TWEE-luh-ree Garden, this gorgeous public park was once the gardens of the Tuileries Palace. In 1667, the Tuileries Garden became the first royal garden open to the public! Now it’s where Parisians and visitors come to walk and relax.
The Garden is located between Place De La Concorde and the Louvre Museum.
From the Middle Ages, this location was a center for tile makers and potters, hence the name Tuileries (tuile means tile in French).
It is full of walking paths, flowers gardens, shady trees, beautiful and sculptures. There is even a pond where you can rent toy sailboats.
The team of gardeners tending to all the beauty is committed to protecting the environment, by recycling, avoiding the use of chemical weedkillers, and using insects for pest control.
One of our favorite things to do is to get a banana and Nutella crêpe at one of the food stands in the gardens and find a place to sit and enjoy!
Kids and adults will enjoy renting a toy sailboat that you can sail in a pond in the middle of the Garden. You will find the pond across the street from the entrance to the Louvre Museum.
Summer in the Gardens is super fun! Fête des Tuileries comes to town full of attractions, rides (we love the Ferris wheel for great views of Paris) and treats like and candy floss (that’s cotton candy).
