Montmartre is a one of a kind place full of cafes and shops. Many artists have studios and work in this area. Some famous artists include... Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, and Salvador Dali - to name a few. Across the Artists' Square, Bertrand spotted painter pooch Pierre. "Pierre, mon ami!" Back at the Cat Sanctuary, you are greeted with cheers and applause! You wait at the bottom of the Cathedral. It is beautiful from this vantage point as well. And, it is fun to watch the people go by. But, this isn't very adventerous... just sitting. You walk into a room that seems as long as a football field. The floor has elaborately tiled floors. And frescos - paintings on the walls - from floor to ceiling. But the ceiling is what is truly amazing! <img src="https://keekeesbigadventures.com/images/chapel_ceiling.jpg" /> Panel after panel of masterpiece painting, featuring scenes from the bible... including the famous "Creation of Adam." While massive on the outside - a huge round building... the inside is amazing. Humongous columns circle the room supporting a huge domed roof - the largest of its kind. You walk across a park featuring an ancient temple and fountain and across a busy street. <img src="https://keekeesbigadventures.com/images/romanpark.jpg" /> You arrive at what is called Bocca della Verità - the Mouth of Truth. It is a huge, round, flat stone sculpture on a small marble pedestal. Carved on it is the face of a bearded man, or maybe it is a god. There are holes that go through for the eyes, the nostrils and the mouth is gaping open. "This use to be a sewer cover," Alfredo explains. "Buongiorno," said Alfredo. You meet Alfredo in front of a huge building that looks like an old stadium. He is wearing a tunic with body armor, strappy sandals, a wide leather belt, wrist guards, and a helmet. "Is it Halloween?" you ask pointing at Alfredo's costume. "No, no, <<print $name>>" Alfredo laughed, "I am dressed like a Roman gladiator - our famous fighters from long ago. In our Colosseum, they were like today's rock stars." [[Colosseum]]

You, KeeKee, and Alfredo make your way through the streets of Rome each carrying 7 pizzas or so. Before you know it, the smell of the pizzas has attracted a pack of dogs. Yikes... there are dozens... and they look very VERY hungry. Despite Alfredo being a dog himself, he isn't able to reason with the critters. You have no choice but to give the pizza to the mean dogs. Empty-handed, it doesn't make sense to return to the Cat Sanctuary. While you had a good visit to Rome, it is disappointing you weren't able to bring food back to the rest of the cats.
